Our Work

Precious Paws Community Cats is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization that was created to service the Manheim, PA area with the Trap-Neuter-Return method of our community cats.

We strive to reduce the population of free roaming cats, promote awareness and improve the lives of these precious felines. 

Unaltered stray and feral cats are humanely trapped and taken to a local clinic to be spayed or neutered, vaccinated and provided with any medical care needed. Once their surgery recovery is complete, they are released back to the same location they were trapped. Cats that are unable to be placed into homes due to temperament are also known as feral or Semi-feral cats. Stray cats are defined as friendly cats that do not have a home.  

The most rewarding part about this work is to see cats thriving and able to live long healthy lives.

Vaccinations are an important part of this process for protection against deadly diseases. 

The only way we can do this work is with the support of our local community and fundraising. These funds are used for spay and neuter surgeries, acute medical needs and supplies. After trapping cats, they are staged up to a few days before surgery and then after surgery for recovery.

Some of the supplies used for the TNR process include: Cat food, pee pads, medical gloves, paper towels, cleaning supplies, and litter for friendly cats that can be caged instead of in a trap for recovery or to prepare to go to a rescue or foster to later be put up for adoption. 

• Population Control: TNR initiatives help control the population of community cats. By trapping, neutering, and returning them to their original location, the cycle of reproduction is broken, preventing further exponential growth of the cat population.
  
  

• Extended Lifespan: Neutered cats live longer, healthier lives. They are less prone to diseases and injuries associated with mating behaviors, such as fighting and roaming. This leads to an overall improvement in their quality of life.
  
  

• Healthcare Access: Donations cover essential medical needs of community cats. This includes vaccinations to protect against common feline diseases, which significantly reduces the risk of outbreaks within the cat population.
  
  

• Surgical Procedures: Donations contribute to the costs of surgical procedures, such as spaying and neutering. These surgeries are vital in preventing unwanted litters and improving the overall health of the cats.
  
  

• Supplies and Nourishment: Funding helps provide necessary supplies like traps, carriers, and food. Proper nutrition is vital for the health and well-being of community cats, and donations ensure they have access to adequate sustenance.
  
  

• Emergency Medical Care: Community cats, especially those in urban environments, are vulnerable to accidents and illnesses. Donations cover emergency medical expenses, ensuring that injured or sick cats receive prompt and appropriate care.
  
  

• Community Harmony: TNR initiatives foster positive relationships between the cat population and local residents. Neutered cats are less likely to engage in disruptive behaviors, such as yowling, spraying, or fighting, which can lead to conflicts within the community.
  
  

• Environmental Impact: By stabilizing the population of community cats, TNR initiatives contribute to maintaining a balanced ecosystem. Overpopulation can lead to strain on local wildlife and disrupt the natural order.

In summary, donations towards Trap-Neuter-Return initiatives are indispensable in creating healthier and more sustainable communities for both humans and community cats. They enable the implementation of vital programs that not only control the population of these cats but also ensure they lead longer, happier lives while minimizing their impact on the environment.
